LIRR 3rd Track Is A Go - $1.95B plan OKd

After nearly 70 years of advocacy and failed proposals, the 3rd Track is finally a reality.

The New York State Organizing and PAC Funds, Long Island Association, and Laborers' Local 1298 ran a powerful, multi-faceted campaign with Governor Andrew Cuomo to get the LIRR Expansion Project approved.

State Senate Majority Leader John Flanagan announced that he would allow $1.9 billion in LIRR funds for the 3rd Track and other improvements to move forward without a veto, along with the rest of the amendments to the MTA’s capital plan.
