5Pointz Rally Shines Light on Developer
The TRUTH came out at a rally in Long Island City about the developers of a new residential project being built at the once cherished complex for artists and graffiti culture called #5Pointz. Careless oversight, unsafe working conditions, and countless other happenings have occurred at the corner of Jackson Ave and Crane St. Some say it is due to the fact that funds for the site aren't being allocated correctly to ensure a safe and productive work site.
Among the speakers at the rally were President of the Building & Construction Trades of Greater NY, Gary LaBarbera and 26th District Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer. Together, they spoke of how the developer G & M Realty of Queens did not stay true to their word in agreeing to make the project a union job. Going union would ensure a safe and productive work place.
