New York State Building Trades Host Definition of Public Works Rally

The New York State Building Trades hosted a rally with the support of the New York State Laborers' Organizing Fund and New York State PAC to support legislation that will clearly define public works.

There were approximately 800 attendees from the various trades, including 300 LIUNA members, in support of bills A.5498 S.2975. The emergence of Regional Economic Development Council Grants and the continued funding of IDA projects has led to a lot of confusion about what is to be covered by the state’s prevailing wage.

This rally and legislation was compiled to educate and help clearly define what is and what is not considered to be public works in New York State.
